Frequently asked questions
- Is this background remover really free?
- Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark, no credits, and no limit. You get the full-resolution image every time.
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser once, and every image is processed on your device. Your photos are never sent to a server.
- Why does the first image take longer?
- The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 44–115 MB depending on the model). It's kept on your device, so later images start right away.
- Which model should I pick?
- Best quality gives cleaner edges around hair and fur and needs a browser with WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge, or Safari). Fast is a smaller download and works on any device.
- What file do I get?
- PNG keeps the transparent background, ideal for logos, product photos, and design tools. JPG puts the subject on the color you choose, for smaller files.
- Is there a size limit?
- Photos up to about 16 megapixels are processed at full resolution. Larger photos are scaled down to that size so they work on phones and tablets.
